TMB is the most popular chromogenic substrate for horseradish peroxidase (HRP). TMB is used in immunohistochemistry as well as being a visualising reagent used in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA). In the presence of HRP, the reaction produces a deep blue byproduct.
