Salmon Sperm DNA Solution is used as a blocking agent to prevent unspecific binding of probes to the membrane in Southern and Northern hybridization. Salmon sperm DNA is sonified (fragments of 500~1000 bp) and extracted with phenol chloroform. This DNA solution is used in a final concentration of 100 μg/ml.
